Seattle Dance Collective

It’s Thanksgiving Week and we want to give special thanks to 🙏🏻 for composing the original music for The Weight of Silk. A frequent SDC collaborator (he created the score for A Liminal Space and provided introductory music to Vanishing Act), Fabian consistently contributes emotional depth to our dance films. A dancer himself (currently a First Soloist with where he has been since 2002) Fabian has an innate movement sensibility which enables him to naturally bring a choreographer’s vision to life.

“From the very beginning, it was clear that I would be composing for piano and violin. Bruno wanted to preserve the atmosphere and mood of his original choreography, *Anamnesis*. To accompany Noelani on her emotional journey through time and to give the film a unique and nostalgic sound, I blended four different types of piano and incorporated a field recording of real rain as ambient background noise. You can hear the sky clearing up as the story unfolds.”
