Another great coding project from one of our teachers, @derchadmeister !

"I'm doing some more self-learning with my students this summer!

I had one student interested in putting together an electrical engineering-oriented project, and I suggested we use an Arduino board as a starting point. I have learned some basic circuits in undergrad, but I'm a bit rusty. The interface of coding and hardware makes the projects even more exciting! We built this little dimmer switch that relies on changing resistances in the potentiometer (the k**b I'm turning) to dim the lights."

Our Game Design with Scratch Students are getting ready for their first day of class tomorrow and we cannot wait to start the fall 2020 session!

Students design their own world and then bring it to life with Scratch, a visual drag and drop programming language developed by MIT. Through creating animations and developing interactive games, students learn the basics of computer programming.

Each class students learn how to design a new game until they are ready to start building on their own. Instructors provide personalized help so that students can progress at their own pace as they experiment with fun new challenges.

1-hour class
Every Monday 4pm – 5pm
Sep 21-Nov 23

If you would like to check out the other course offerings we have for this fall, check out computingkids.com/courses/ to find out more. Our goal is give every student a chance to learn the language of computer science.
