ZAPP
01/20/2018
Hi all, I just wanted to take a moment to share the news of Mark Campos for those who haven't heard. Mark was an OG part of ZAPP and the Seattle comics scene and will be greatly missed.
Some great words from Paul Tumey of the Comics Journal: Mark Campos was a sensitive, brilliant, and complex person. It was my honor to spend a little time with him. One Thanksgiving he and David Lasky were at my house and we started drawing comics. I watched Mark draw and create fully realized characters and scenes out of thin air with the same sort of fascination I’ve watched skilled cartoonists like Charles Schultz draw in documentaries. His hand was sure, never hesitating, and his wit was keen. Mark Campos was the real deal.
Mark's family is taking donations for arrangements here: https://www.gofundme.com/laying-mark-campos-to-rest
May he rest in peace. ☮️

An article about a new zine that aims to empower undocumented Asian women.
"I think two of the biggest misperceptions of undocumented women in the Asian diaspora is that we don't exist and that we don't organize," Angel Sutjipto, RAISE organizer and AMPLIFYHER editor, told NBC News. "These misperceptions stem from the stereotype of the 'quiet, docile, submissive Asian women.' Which, of course, is untrue."
