We had a great time with Vanderbilt University and the Duke Center for Advanced Hindsight at the Behavioral Parking Research Webinar last week. Turnout was impressive - thank you to all who attended!
Key insights we came away with:
✅ When presenting commute options, reverse ordering can have a powerful influence on mode choice. (Turns out we follow the perceived norm - meaning when "driving" is listed first, more end up choosing that method over others.)
✅ In one lab study, people claimed that environmental factors have the biggest impact on commute choices, however the field study findings found that financial framing has the most sway.
✅ When choosing between daily/weekly parking receipt models, the weekly rhythm ends up being much more effective at reducing driving frequency - contrary to what most assume given loss aversion.
