For the Bronze Certified North Tryon Business Corridor, the City of Charlotte Government, North Carolina Department of Transportation and the lead design team Kimley-Horn used a approach to prioritize for , , and users. For the neighborhoods and businesses within the corridor, plays a critical role in connecting the residents, business owners, and visitors from the North Tryon area to Center City. In this predominantly Black neighborhood (where 79% residents identified as Black compared to the city-wide average of 33%), transit is the primary mode of travel for 23% of the working population (8 times city-wide average). To enhance transportation choices along the couplet, the City added 2 miles of new 5’ Class A bike lanes, and widened sidewalks to enhance the , including creating a consistent edge zone to separate travel lanes from pedestrians. The City of Charlotte Government's $20.3 million investment in the of the North Tryon Business Corridor's included creating 223 good-paying jobs that were stable despite disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The construction team of Sealand Contractors Corp. & WGR Southeast, LLC 88% of workers from the region within 50 miles of the project and paid 98% of them prevailing wages (even though prevailing wages are not required by State Law in North Carolina).
