A New Mexico to Seattle connection...
Loved filling in on the desk with none other than Steve Soliz tonight! Fun fact -- we first worked together at KOB 4, and I left to go to KENS 5 in San Antonio- his hometown. He went to KING 5, and let me know when they had a position opening up he thought I could be good for -- and the rest is history!
A solid journalist, team player & top-notch newsroom colleague. Thanks for cheering on everyone around you!
Glad Leah Pezzetti brought this up: even as we enjoy this stretch of sunshine in the PNW, it's important to take heat seriously. It remains the #1 weather-related killer in the US... for a lot of reasons. Really appreciated this New York Magazine piece breaking down a few of them with context about climate impacts: https://lnkd.in/gY95Xez8
King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks and partners have been doing some interesting work on heat mitigation locally, which we've also covered for KING 5 (you can read up on their latest plans here: https://lnkd.in/gEjdK_kB)
Real talk -- do you eat (normal, clean) snow? I never saw a problem with it... anyway- our convo this morning, and the story that inspired it- all about *"pink snow"*! Loved joining researchers to see it up close.
Back to Seattle after a week of sunshine visiting family in Florida & the cold is a rude awakening 😆 Anyone else dreaming of a little summer??
