VIOURE LIVE-IN GALLERY ARTIST // Monica Tie

Monica Tie is a contemporary alcohol ink artist with a focus on creating calm, immersive paintings. She uses ideas such as minimalism, the natural world, and form as inspiration in her pieces. Her work focuses on the subtleties in color variation possible with each ink and often chooses to use only two or three colors as a result.

COMMUNITY

South End Stories is a benefit for Community Arts Create in Hillman City. This year’s theme centers the stories and heritage of Seattle’s Southend- our home, rich with culture, language, food, art, and legacy.

Taste food from some of Seattle’s most innovative and talented chefs. Kristi Brown (That Brown Girl Cooks!), Marlon Brown (Bessie’s Cakes) and Tarik Abdullah (A DJ and a Cook). Hear live music from students in the Rhapsody project and testimonials from folks involved in our programming. Hear stories from local artists and organizers from the South End. We’ll have a silent auction! AND we’ll have DJ Onesie (aka Markeith Wiley) for our after-party dance party from 10pm-late!

ARTS

This fundraiser event is benefitting Community Arts Create as we enter our 9th year. By providing support for dedicated staffing and resource development, your participation will help grow the reach and impact of our programs- which up to this point have been fueled almost exclusively by volunteer labor. The tremendous success of these programs despite limited resources- which include efforts such as Taste International, Rhapsody, Mural Project, Backstreet Bazaar, and the South End Heritage Festival - shows dedication, demand, and potential. Your contributions will help ensure that community members are equitably valued and compensated for their cultural labor which is fundamental in building sustainable capacity from the ground up.

CREATE

Community Arts Create is a South Seattle organization that uses the storytelling power of the arts to create space for folks to engage. Our mission is to utilize the Arts to re-center individual & collective identity through a shared experience. We are a hyper-local movement, rooted in collaboration and community. We believe that the arts connects with everything that is vital for a healthy community.
