Celebrating the life of Bill Gates, Sr., I photographed him after receiving the E Donnall Thomas Medal of Achievement and speaking during the Award Dinner on June 13, 1998, presented by Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. The inset image was taken during the Honoree's Tour and Lunch and shows Mr. Gates sharing a smile with Dr. E. Donnall Thomas, hematologist who earned the Nobel prize in 1990 and after whom the Award was created/named. Mr. Gates was an attorney & philanthropist, past President of the Washington State Bar Association as well as father of Microsoft co-founder, Bill Gates.
He passed away September 14, 2020 and was always a technical challenge to photograph...being 6' 7" tall!

Congratulations to Senator Kamala Harris on being selected as Joe Biden's Vice Presidential running mate. She is the first Black woman and Asian American woman to be on the Presidential ticket of a major political party. I created these photos in Seattle and they show Senator Harris with Washington State Supreme Court Justice Mary Yu and during the keynote address.
