Kaiser management has made the decision to close the Kaiser midwifery group that practices at the state's largest hospital - Swedish Medical Center in Seattle. This popular group of certified nurse midwives help improve maternal and neonatal health in a caring, evidence based, manner. This is such a bad decision! We need more midwives rather than less if we are to move from the bottom of the 49th spot on a list of 49 industrialized countries for maternal and infant outcomes.
