What a perfect day! Sunshine on the prairie with violet- green swallows and bluebirds flying around claiming ownership of the many nesting boxes scattered about the landscape. And the timing could not be more perfect for camas in full bloom. All of us were excited to hit the trails that led through swaths of violet/blue camas mixed with deep yellow western buttercups. Humming birds laid claim to the orange honeysuckle, participants tasted the nutritious miners lettuce and the thrushes (newly arrived from South America) will soon be feasting on service berries now in full white bloom.

Forterra’s vision is in full bloom too here at Morse Wildlife Preserve. A precious landscape that contributes to the last 3% of the once vibrant and common prairie ecosystem in Western Washington. As we pondered an enormous 250-300 year-old Garry oak, our guide Gary Mozel inspired us to think about all the history this tree has witnessed and the habitat that it has provided. And now we steward this vulnerable verdant gem forward for future generations.

April is Global Volunteer Month. To celebrate, Delta Air Lines employees came together with Forterra to remove invasive plants and help restore green spaces for the community.

At Forterra, we know the vital role volunteers play in communities around the world and it's companies like Delta who are helping fuel it.

Because giving back isn't just something we do in April—it's something we do every day.

Some of the most important conservation work doesn’t happen on a trail.

It happens in decisions, timelines, and moments where there is a need to act quickly.

That’s what this match supports: the ability to act when it matters.

It was a full room. A little chaotic. A lot of energy.
And a shared belief that the places we care about are worth showing up for.
That energy didn’t end that night - it sparked something more.
