Goodbye Walt,
I never got a chance to say goodbye to you when I heard that you had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. So I'm going to do the best I can even though its too late. I know you'll be able to hear these words from where you are.
Brother look at what we created together and how many lives its changed, for the better. The beautiful music that came from our deep friendship and vision. I still remember us twisting Terry's arm to stick around and play guitar in this new horn band that we were putting together.
Of course it took five minutes and Terry decided to stay with his two musical brothers and not go out to the west coast with the Rovin' Kind (another popular band from Chicago) that had just been signed to Jim Guercio's production company. Or Lee coming to me and saying "hey Danny I want in too!" At that point we were off and running. Then you enlisted Jimmy Pankow (a trombonist from the DePaul Uni jazz band that as it turned out had extraordinary arranging skills) and basically reinvented the instrument into viable rock n roll horn. Also following a lead on a keyboard player/lead singer from the south side named Bobby Charles (LAMM) and inviting him to sign on with his golden blue eyed soul voice and and briefcase full of songs.
And lastly double teaming Peter Cetera to join our group to complete our vision of what our band needed (a bass guitarist/tenor vocalist to complement Bobby and Terry's voices) that transformed us into a force to be reckoned with. We knew then that we had created something really special.
Walt, that's only a sample size of what we experienced together in the 26 years that we were together. Please know that I've missed you all these years we've been apart and know that you've never left my heart. I'll always hold onto the wonderful times we shared together both good and bad. Lastly please tell Terry that I miss him every day and someday I know we'll all be together again to play our music and be brothers again.

My condolences to Jacqueline, Felicia and Laura Parazaider for their loss.

Love Danny
