Of course he wasn’t right.
But let’s talk it out.
I know this doesn’t feel good. I’m not here for the feel good. I’m here to help us think through what we actually need to do to move forward.
Yes, broad boycotts feel righteous in the moment. But righteous anger without strategy is short sighted.
We have a long history here — from Reconstruction, through immigration and economic policy. It’s quite infuriating if you take the time to google how these businesses were intentionally integrated into our communities to strip our economic access.

At any rate, we’ve built thriving Black business districts before. We can do it again. But not from a place of reaction. From a place of knowing who we are, what we’ve survived, and what was stolen from us on purpose.
From strategic organization. Not eloquent speeches.
I’m going to speak more to this in my Deep Dove this week on Substack but here is my bottom line… I keep reiterating that s**t is shaking.
Rules are changing. New alliances are being forged. New systems are being created and implemented. They are not in planning more. They are in full scale ex*****on and we don’t even have a plan in place.
This is what makes it easy for us to be distracted by a random guy on IG or whatever platform he’s on to become one of the hot topics for all of Black America 🥴🥴🥴
This is why we’re focused on Invest Fest and black faces selling us capitalism as the only pathway when we know it leads to 98% of us left in a permanent underclass 🥴🥴🥴
This is why we’re hyping up intellectual content creators that feed our rage and frustration but we’re not funding institutions and infrastructure 🥴🥴🥴
We are behind the ball on this. We can only be proactive or pawns. It’s time to choose.
