A Stage 2 burn ban is immediately in effect throughout King County. For Seattle Parks that means the fire rings at Golden Gardens and Alki Beach will be locked. And as always, no beach fires outside the rings are permitted.

Washington State is under a limited burn ban and Seattle Parks and Recreation is encouraging park visitors to please use extra caution with using grills at parks and picnic shelters, and to please use gas and not charcoal for cooking fires. Beach fires at Alki and Golden Gardens continue to be allowed in designated fire pits only.

We're opening 2 cooling centers today - International District CC and Magnuson's View Ridge room - from 2-8pm. Air-conditioning, restrooms, and water fountains are available. Community members are welcome to drop by during open hours to keep cool. Directions here:
