February 1st is the deadline for posting your OSHA log summary
Most businesses are required to post their OSHA Log summary from February 1st to April 30th.
This summary must be posted in each establishment where notices to employees are customarily posted, such as next to the required posters for your workplace.
Does that include your business?
Small employers and low-risk businesses may be exempt from these requirements if:
They have 10 or fewer employees at all times during the previous calendar year at all of their combined business locations.
The business is included on the industry exemption list in Table 1 under WAC 296-27-00105.
Note: An exemption does not apply if the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), OSHA, or DOSH notifies you to comply.

Proposed 2026 Workers’ Comp Rates: What a 4.9% “Average” Really Means for Employers?
The Department has announced a proposed 4.9 percent average premium rate increase for the State Fund, effective January 1, 2026.
However, this average masks significant variation across risk classes. While 90 percent of risk classes are expected to see an increase, the actual impact on individual employers will vary depending on the specific risk classifications they report hours under. Some employers may experience increases well above 4.9%, while others may see smaller changes, no change at all, or even a decrease.
The primary cost drivers are increased duration of long term disability claims and rising pension costs.
Employers are strongly encouraged to review their risk classes to understand how these proposed changes affect their rates. Look up risk classes:https://lni.wa.gov/insurance/_docs/Proposed2026RatesBusTypeClassCode.pdf
Below are proposed 2026 examples to demonstrate variations across risk classes:
0210 Asphalt Paving - Highway, Streets and Roads: 5% increase
0521 Painting: Buildings - Interior Work: 12% increase
4404 Cold Storage Warehouse: 6% increase
1101 Delivery Services: -12% decrease
4803 Orchards: 4% increase
The proposed increase is less than what L&I projects it will need to cover 2026 claims costs, and the Department continues to cover the deficit using the workers compensation contingency reserve.
There are several public hearings planned to allow input before L&I makes a final decision on rates.
