Billings Middle School

Billings students had the opportunity to tour a live recording studio, catching the Bump & Stacy show live on air and sitting in the same chair where Jaxon Smith-Njigba was interviewed just a week ago. Go Hawks!

We loved welcoming back a past Rainier Scholar graduate and celebrating a current Billings Middle School student on the same path. Honoring where our students have been—and where they’re headed—reminds us of the power of community and possibility.

At Billings, Students build expeditionary skills by learning through experience. 6th graders navigated a 3.5 mile hike on Cougar Mountain helping students practice observation, problem-solving, and adaptability in a real-world setting.

Our 6th graders are exploring weather and climate through hands-on labs, simulations, and new scientific vocabulary. This week, students completed an Albedo energy lab, investigating how different surfaces reflect and absorb heat—and making real-world connections along the way!

Outdoor learning comes alive through open-ended tasks that inspire imagination, innovation, and flexible thinking. These experiences spark creativity and help students grow as critical thinkers.

Even in winter, learning thrives outdoors! Fresh air and movement support physical health while reducing stress and improving mood—benefits that help our students stay focused, confident, and curious in the classroom.

Gratitude at Billings: One thing I am grateful for about Billings is how nice the teachers are. Nice teachers are very important to me and I'm very glad that I have so many amazing teachers here at Billings.
