Over the past four years, I’ve spent my spring breaks in Belize at Liberty Children’s Home with SU PWOB, and I’ve enjoyed every second of it. This was my fourth trip. Across these trips, I’ve taken on all kinds of hands-on work: painting and staining, learning how to fix toilets and do electrical tasks, and so much more. But beyond the work, the most meaningful part has been the relationships. I’ve had the chance to play with the kids and build connections, some I’ve been lucky enough to return to year after year, and others I only had the privilege of meeting once. As one of the kids said right before we left, “It’s easy to come to Liberty, but it’s hard to leave.”
