Ashworth Hudson was a special project for our office and we are excited to share it with you today.
Sited in Seattle's historic Colombia City neighborhood the significance of maintaining community character and aesthetics was a vital part of this project. Not only was the need to maintain community character necessitated by the city's preservation standards but the neighborhood is one which holds significance to us and our office personally, since just down the street from the project site is the office space where JWA got its start on Hudson Street.
The design team tried to create a project which echoed the characteristics of the surrounding neighborhood and re interpret them in a modern way to fit in and maintain character without conforming to it. Overall, our office was very happy with the result of the design team and it turns out so were the residents of this neighborhood. With one neighbor taking to writing our office a letter which reads...

"I am a Columbia City resident... I drove by one of your projects on South Hudson and wanted to thank you for designing a beautiful development that fits into the character of the neighborhood, has a roof line, and color…. we need more designs like this…. Thank you for your creativity.”
