UW Hip Hop Student Association

MEET ONYX:

YO! This is Onyx! I have been movin and groovin since I was 8 years-old and I am currently based out of Seattle, WA. I was a part of UW HHSA’s Hip-Hop choreography based team, UW Undivided, years 2021-2023 (2021-2022 UWU Intern & 2022-2023 UWU Dance Chair). I am fortunate enough to say that I am a cross-trained dancer. I am trained in classical western styles (ballet, modern, tap , jazz, contemporary) along with hip-hop and other street styles. Currently, I am in an exploration phase of my movement journey and I have been really diving into the “human” aspect of storytelling and creation. My style today is a fusion of all of the movement disciplines I know and can definitely be categorized as more abstract. The choreography I have is a vibe and definitely challenges textures, shapes, and body control! Can’t wait to see you in class!!!!

MEET AZ:

Hi everyone, my name is AZ Dela Cuesta. I’ve been dancing since 2017 and primarily focus on choreography inspired by street and studio styles, including Hip-Hop, Krump, and Contemporary. I love creating choreography that emphasizes mindful body connection, momentum, and unique weight shifts. I was part of HHSA from 2017–2020, serving as Social Media Chair from 2018–2019 and HHSA President in 2020.

Favorite HHSA Memory:
Connecting with so many people in the community through events like Fresh Fit, the Undivided Showcase, and HHSA info sessions.
