Little steps in new directions!
Although I've been making my living producing functional ceramics for many years now, I've always wanted to get back to creating "art". Finally, it's happening.
My strategy has been to just start, to fuss with what I have close at hand which is slip-cast pieces for lamps, vases & finials.
I began by making cutouts in them, altering the forms to let in light. Experimenting with glazes is another new trip. Most of the work is non-figurative, however I couldn't resist putting a kRI kRI figure stopper in the blue vase shape.
I have plans to go beyond re-purposing my production molds & to make more sculptures, but for now, these ventures from the path of usefulness have been joyful explorations.

Its fun to try new things. However, it's not always easy to start. Sometimes, usually, one gets stuck somewhere in the middle. But solving the problem is part of the pleasure. I'm trying to make time to be creative in different ways and enjoy my little successes.
