I've been comparing different guitars lately....focusing on the three pictured (plus an old Kramer not pictured)....I've been thinking a lot about 'tonewood'. The guitar on the left has a basswood body core, the middle guitar is ash, and the Jackson on right is mahogany. All three have maple necks (Ibanez has a rosewood fretboard, Frakenstrat is maple on maple, and the Jackson is ebony).

'Tonewood' is a touchy subject to some....one school of thought is that an electric guitar's tone comes only from the pickups/strings/etc and the wood doesn't make a damn bit of difference! The other school of thought is that it does!! :-)

I'm always fascinated with the behind-the-scenes inner workings of bands, and this video for Led Zeppelin is wild!!

There's so much more that goes on that the public doesn't know of....especially with the older classic bands....with no internet, we only got info from television, radio, magazines and word-of-mouth...and usually it was framed up to promote the 'image' of how the band wanted to be seen (or what management/marketing felt was best).
