Instead of traditional meditation, our classroom practice centers on anchoring, helping students find a steady point they can return to when their minds or emotions start to drift. An anchor might be the breath, the feeling of their feet on the floor, a sound in the room, or a sensation in the body.
Anchoring teaches students to notice what’s here with kindness: the breath rising and falling, emotions shifting, thoughts coming and going. It’s a simple but powerful skill they can use anywhere, before a test, during a tough moment with a friend, or when they need a pause from big feelings.
Just a few grounded breaths can create space, clarity, and calm.
Mindfulness grows from these small moments of returning. Anchoring is how we begin.
