Do you know Skilled Companion Animals? These animals are trained to perform disability tasks to support your daily challenges.

In Japan, where I was born and raised, only 3 types of service dogs are recognized, Mobility support, Hearing aid service dogs and Guide dogs. Unfortunately, psychiatric service dog, developmental disability support dogs (ex. Autism support dog, ADHD support dog) and medical alert dogs aren’t recognized as service dogs.

I want to promote Skilled Companion Dogs (At-Home service dog) to countries where service dogs for invisible disabilities aren’t available. Share this video to help increase awareness!

Building trust and love with your dog doesn’t have to be big or flashy ❤️🐾

This Valentine’s Day, focus on what really matters:
• Sitting quietly together and gentle petting. Just calm and warm presence ❤️🐾
• Planning a fun adventure. New smells, new places, shared excitement. A pup cup will make the adventure a little sweeter ❤️🐾
• Consistent training. Consistency will build a forever-trust relationship with your dog ❤️🐾

Love grows through time, trust, and consistency.
Your dog feels it in the little moments 💘🐶

I’m always asked for a training/walking location recommendation, so I decided to share one of my favorite places with you.

If you live in the S Seattle area, Southern Heights Park in Burien is a great place for walking with a reactive dog and decompression walk (sniff walk)

Location checklist 📋 for a reactive dog training
✔️ Wide space
✔️ No or less blind corners
✔️ Low human and car traffic
✔️ Quiter place
✔️ Parking lot is in front of the park - easy entrance and exit

Walking with a reactive dog can be stressful. My recommendation is to switch locations to allow yourself to have a low key walk (decompression walk) with your dog once in a while :) It’s okay to have a fun and easy walk when you need a break from active teaching.

Happy training!

Puppy Training Camp time!

Puppy campers learn many life skills at Puppy Training Camp at Dog’s Day Out. One of them is to target the behavioral flexibility skills through “normalize the unfamiliar” practice.

Puppy campers practice not only 1) Socialization, but also 2) Behavioral flexibility, and 3) Generalization practices! They are learning to generalize the learned skills no matter how trainers dress and how we move.

We also actively incorporate frequent short Quiet Time breaks throughout the camp. This helps puppies to manage arousal, which prevents behavior escalation due to stress stacking.

We offer Puppy and Teen Training Camp at Dog’s Day Out. My partner, and I are excited to be your dog’s teachers!
