When you can’t come up with a color scheme, take your favorite image and upload it to an online color picker. Then choose three or four of the colors that stand out to you the most: a main color, and the rest are accent colors. Follow the 60-30-10 rule—The main color should make up 60% of the room (like walls) the next color 30% (furniture) and the final color(s) about 10% (so accessories, pillows, trim, etc).

Below, you can see some colors that came up from an image I took in South Africa on safari. This will make a great start to come up with a design plan for an African-inspired interior that is more subtle.
