Lions World Vision Institute's North Louisiana team had the opportunity to participate in Central Louisiana Ahec's "A-HEC of a Summer" program, an exciting experience for 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students with an interest in pursuing healthcare careers! ⚕️⚕️⚕️
Through volunteer experiences at local hospitals, students gain valuable exposure to the many pathways available in medicine.
During LWVI's visit, students learned about cornea recovery, heard about the life-saving impact of organ, eye, and tissue donation, and were inspired by Jansen McDonald, the 2026 Ms. Belle of the Bayou, and her platform "Heroes in the Making," which is dedicated to raising awareness about organ donation. 💙💚
Jansen shared that her mission was inspired by her nephew, Hayes, who passed away at just 9 years old.
When Hayes discovered that organ donation could save someone's life, he made the decision that day that he wanted to become an organ donor. Because Hayes had shared his wishes with his family, his parents didn't have to wonder what he would have wanted. Through one selfless decision, Hayes gave the gift of life to others and left behind a legacy that continues to inspire us every day.
Thank you, Jansen McDonald-Ms. Belle of the Bayou, for sharing Hayes' story and showing us all what it means to .

🌎Global Collaboration to Restore Sight & Transform Lives🌎
We are grateful to receive a heartfelt video from Dr. Germán Elizalde Fuentes, Ophthalmologist in Mexico, and his patient, José, sharing the successful delivery of a cornea from Lions World Vision Institute and José’s life-changing corneal transplant journey.⚕️👁️🩺
Dr. Germán Elizalde Oftalmólogo also had the opportunity to participate in hands-on wet lab training with Dr. Benjamin Lambright, LWVI Medical Director, during The International Course on Cornea and Refractive Surgery (CICCR) in Mexico last September where he spent time learning about LWVI’s innovative cornea procedures and comprehensive eye bank services, in which he has embraced at his practice. 🔬
Stories like José’s remind us of the profound impact of eye donation, surgical education, and global collaboration in restoring sight and transforming lives.🌍🌎🌏
