Old Apple Trees Guest House

Since its inception the guest house has received only glowing, 5-star reviews (more than 30). This one, however, took our breath away. Duncan and Sue write:

A sad day at Old Apple Trees. Given their age and extremely stressed condition it was inevitable.

The smaller, but most productive apple tree came down as a result of Sunday night's rain & wind. Last year we lost one major branch, representing about a quarter of the tree.

I had considered some method of propping up the remainder, but alas it's too late for that. However, we kept one major sucker in the hopes that it will eventually grow to replace this great old trooper.

At least the wonderful, large one over the deck is still hanging in there (literally, with 6 cables tying it together), and has a decent fruit set. So there'll be apple butter for our guests again this year.
