I didn't change your diapers, but I cleaned up your messes with a small bag. I didn't soothe your cries with a pacifier, but I provided you with comfort when fear shook you and you sought refuge in my embrace.
I didn't push you on swings, but we spent countless hours together in the park.
I don't shield you from bullies, but if anyone threatens or attacks you, I will defend you fiercely.
I don't teach you to write or draw, but I teach you to be respectful.
I discipline you, correct you, and forgive you like a parent.
I long for you when you're not near.
I take you with me wherever I go, and I consider you my own. At night, I wake to check if you're sleeping beside me, I gaze at you and gently stroke you.
We don't share blood, but we share an unbreakable connection.
Happy day to those who care for their pets as if they were children who cannot speak, but who express their love with their eyes.
