Egrets? I’ve had a few. (But this one is my favorite.)
There is something about the way a Great Egret stands so perfectly still that makes you hold your breath. I’ve been wanting to capture that “white watcher” energy for a while now.
I started with a collagraph plate to get all those organic, crinkly textures in the feathers, then went back in with watercolor. It’s a bit of a slow process, but I think the layering was worth it.
Big print release coming this May!

If you’re not careful, you’ll start noticing birds… and birdwatching will quietly creep up on you. Well it’s true! I’ve been enjoying watching birds and making bird prints.

“Flying North”
Snow geese in flight, traveling together through open skies. Because it’s that time of the year when the skies over Skagit valley fill with wings!

See this piece at the Phinney Wood Winter Festival, December 5-7 and at the Pike Place Night Market, December 11

What stories do the tides tell? “Shifting Sands” captures the soft, sculpted edges of a shoreline always in motion.
A meditation on movement, memory, and impermanence.
