From intern to advocate, we're excited to officially welcome
🎉Sebastian Vargas 🎉to our team!
✨He was born in San Bernardino, CA but raised in Batesville, AR. Sebastian went to Harding University where he earned a Bachelor's of Social Work. Before accepting this current role, he was a Social Services Specialist for DCFS in Independence County.
✨As a former Child and Family Advocate Intern at CSC, Sebastian says he cherished those experiences in his social work career. He says, "The staff here is passionate and effective with helping families walk through uncertain times."
✨Sebastian shared, “While working at DCFS, I specialized more with providing services and connecting with families which is what ultimately led me to coming back and working for the Child Safety Center full time. I wholeheartedly believe children deserve the opportunity to heal from trauma while they are children. The Child Safety Center helps remind the general public that children are people with voices that deserve to be heard.”
✨In asking how Sebastian occupies his free time, he says, " I enjoy listening and singing to music🎶 and love going to concerts. I like to stay active whether that be running, 🏃🏽♂️hiking, or working out🏋🏽♀️ at the gym. I also will play pickleball🏓 anytime I get the chance. The most important thing to me is spending time with family and friends when possible. Though I have traveled to many different states and even been to the country of Italy, I definitely want to travel more.🛫🚗🚅
✨What started as an internship has grown into a new chapter, and we couldn't be happier to have Sebastian join us as an advocate. His passion, dedication, and commitment to serving children and families have already made a lasting impression, and we know he'll continue to make a meaningful impact in this new role.
Congratulations, Sebastian! 🎉
We're so glad to have you on the team and can't wait to see all you'll accomplish.💙

July is a time for fireworks, family gatherings, swimming pools, and making summer memories.
Every child deserves the freedom to simply be a kid, to laugh without fear, to feel safe at home, and to know there is always a trusted adult who will protect them.
While we celebrate our nation's independence this month, let's also remember that protecting children is something we can all do every day. By paying attention, speaking up when something doesn't seem right, and supporting families in our community, we help create a safer future for every child.
Because every child deserves a childhood filled with joy not fear.
❤️💙 Happy Fourth of July from all of us at the Child Safety Center.

Some days are quieter. Others are overflowing.
This was one of those days—an influx of disclosures and a schedule packed with children who needed care.
On days like this, our team pulls together and pushes through—because every time slot represents a child/children who need to be heard and protected.
