PLEASE SHARE! The amendments to Act 47 have pitted the high earners against the middle class. This legislation allows the City of Scranton to petition the court for a 1% wage tax (worker making $100,000.00 will pay $1,000.00, worker making $25,000.00 will pay $250.00) or tripling the Local Service Tax from $52.00 to $156.00 ( worker making $100,000 will see an increase of $104.00-worker making $25,000 will see increase of $104.00) That's fair! The legislature has divided the commuters. To the high income that's a bargain. To those in the middle and at the lower end, well, you call the shot! Are we going to stand still and accept this violation of "No Taxation Without Representation?" It's up to you. Get involved!

PLEASE SHARE! I have some Good News and Some Bad News. The Good News is that according to today's Times/Tribune reported that the Mayor of Scranton has stated the City likely won't pursue an Act 205 commuter tax for 2015 now that a new state law requires a municipality to impose such an extra wage tax on both resident and non-residents. The Bad News is that there was no mention of the Act 47 earned income tax or the ,local service tax being eliminated. We may still have a fight on our hands.
