Yesterday, June 26th, at 18:19 hours Scottsbluff Fire was dispatched to a kitchen fire.

Engine One, Engine Three, Scottsbluff 2 (Fire Marshal), Gering 30, and Tower 1 were all assigned to the call. Upon arrival occupants were out of the home with no injuries, and crews located smoldering pots in the oven.

It was determined that a occupant had turned the oven on, and forgot that there were pots and pans being stored in the oven, one of the pans contained cooking oil in it, which ignited causing the fire.

Due to the quick response of a neighbor, who knocked down the fire with a fire extinguisher prior to the fire departments arrival, less then a $1,000 dollars in damage was caused to the home, and the occupants were not displaced.

Further more crews also responded to a handful of other calls immediately after the storm, including a trampoline in a power line.
