America 250 / The Last of its Kind: Schenectady's Liberty Flag | Schenectady County Public Library In 1774, the people of Schenectady raised a bold flag of protest. This simple blue banner, emblazoned with the word "Liberty" marked the town's entrance into the struggle between Britain and her American colonies.

🎩 Join us for an evening stroll past Schenectady mansions and learn about the influential families who shaped the area during this transformative era. We'll also explore the Stockade’s role as a backdrop for the HBO series “The Gilded Age,” and visit some of the filming locations -- letting you in on some backstage secrets. Whether you’re a history buff or a fan of the show, this tour offers a unique glimpse into Schenectady’s gilded past.
