Here’s something worth thinking about…

For the first time ever, March Madness was won by a team—the Michigan Wolverines men’s basketball—that started FIVE players who all began their careers somewhere else.

Four of them?
Just arrived this past year.

Not long ago, the “transfer portal” felt like a side story. Now? It is the story.

So I’ll ask the question…

👉 Is this still college basketball…
or has it quietly become free agency with school colors?

On one hand, players finally have flexibility and control.
On the other, what happens to:
• Team identity?
• Player development?
• The idea of building something over 3–4 years?

And maybe the bigger one…

👉 Are we watching teams… or year-to-year collections of talent?

I’m not saying it’s right or wrong.
But it’s definitely different.

Curious where everyone lands on this—
Good for the game? Or are we losing something that made college basketball special?
