URGENT STATE BUDGET ALERT
APRIL 3, 2017
CSEA is working hard with the legislature to reach a budget agreement before today’s 2:00 p.m. deadline to ensure that our government continues to run smoothly and state workers’ paychecks go out on time.

TELL OUR LEADERS: PROTECT LOCAL GOVERNMENT SERVICES AND JOBS BY OPPOSING THE GOVERNOR’S SHARED SERVICES PROPERTY TAX SAVINGS PLAN.
Call your Senator 518-455-2800 and your Assemblymember 518-455-4100.
As part of his state budget, Governor Cuomo has proposed a plan that would require local governments to develop a plan for merging, consolidating, or sharing services in order to receive Aid and Incentives to Municipalities (AIM) funding.
Our elected officials need to know:
CSEA is strongly opposed to the plan, especially to the requirement that these proposals be put on the ballot in every county.
❏ There is simply nowhere left to cut from municipalities except for more services and jobs.
❏ The state already spends tens of millions of dollars annually to incentivize local governments to find efficiencies, share services, or merge or consolidate.
❏ These programs, along with the freezing of Aid and Incentives to Municipalities (AIM) funding, have forced local governments to cut their workforces to the bone. Between 2009 and 2016, local governments in New York eliminated nearly 62,000 jobs.
