The Way

For God who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of God’s glory in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6

Good morning! Come, let’s spend time in God’s Word this morning—and with the Word, Jesus! Let’s fellowship, worship, give Abba the glory, and see what He reveals to us this morning. Service starts at 11AM.

Prayer:
Abba, ignite our hearts with Your love, and help us start this new week gazing on You and Your Word. Refresh us, encourage us, and help us walk with integrity.

Thank You for Your generous and beautiful light—may it overflow and outpour into others around us this week. Amen.

Holy Saturday (The Great Sabbath)
John 19:30; Luke 23:55–56; Matthew 27:57–66; Isaiah 40:31

Good Friday—“It is finished”—tetelestai—paid in full—complete—Jesus took His last breath and died.

Behold—The Lamb of God—the Passover Lamb—Jesus was the sacrifice—the Atonement.

Holy Saturday is the “in between”—in between crucifixion and resurrection.
A day of stillness, silence, waiting in hope, and anticipation.

This day marks His burial and triumphant descent into Sheol before the resurrection.

We can remember that even in grief and what feels dark, God is always working.

He does what He says He will do. He keeps His promises, and we can trust Him with all our hearts.
We wait, we abide—He delivers, He renews our strength—we qavah (entwine, bind together with Abba). Actively, we wait.

Abba,
What a week of emotions, tensions, and events. Sometimes the hardest part is in the waiting—in the “have courage,” holding fast, or in the stillness and quiet when everything has settled. This can be when grief and grievance seem the loudest or feel larger than life.

It can be daunting, heavy, lonely—where are the answers? What do we do next? How can we fix this? Being human can be frustrating.

But, Abba, we know as Christians that You are in control, always. Nothing gets past You. Your timing is perfect. If we could just remember that it isn’t understanding we need; ultimately, it is You we seek—it is You we need. More and more of You.

Thank You for Your Word that sustains us and gives us life. Our hope is in Jesus. We can confidently wait with expectation for You, Abba.

Teach us to live a praying life. Holy Spirit, help us discern where in our hearts we are doubting or trying to assert control when we need to surrender and trust.

Thank You Abba for these moments that grow our faith. Where we really learn to lean on You and find out where our hearts truly are.

Jesus’s death looked or seemed like all was lost. We know though how You love to transcend human logic and use paradox.

Defeating death with death. Using a cross that symbolized defeat (as in failure) and turning it into defeated (as in victory) through Jesus. Wow!

May we be people who trust in You with all our hearts and stop trying to lean on our own understanding. May we seek You wholeheartedly and always first. We love You, Abba. Amen.
