Specialty crops such as fruits, nuts, berries, vegetables and potatoes are a diverse part of Missouri’s agricultural economy.
In 2022, 4.1% of Missouri farms were growing specialty crops—spanning 44,360 acres across 3,632 farms and generating an impressive $268.7 million in sales.
While states like California, Florida, Texas and Michigan lead the nation, Missouri holds its own:
◾ #1 producer of elderberries in the U.S.
◾A regional leader in grape and peach acreage

Missouri Department of Agriculture’s Dairy Producer Program is now available and applications are due November 19. Missouri beef producers can apply for up to $40,000 in funding with a short application to support herd expansion, equipment, and facility upgrades.
