Below is a picture of the sandbar on the south end where no one is allowed to go to from the shore of Tybee Island. There is a channel between shore and the sandbar. The tide shifts very quickly and many get stuck over there due to the tide rising so fast. Some attempt to cross back over but the current between shore and the sandbar is incredibly powerful and swimmers become overcome by the strength of the current. Please do not attempt to cross to the sandbar.
