Malden Anglers

Before heading off for summer break, the fourth graders from St. Joseph’s School surprised us with a wonderful gesture: a bundle of handwritten/drawn thank‑you notes and cards for every Malden Anglers volunteer who helped make their field trip special. Ms. Irene King’s class even included a few photos from their day exploring the pond.

All the cards were a joy to read, this one gave us an extra smile. “Going fly fishing was one of the most exiting (sp) things I’ve ever done in my life, and I promise I’ve done a lot of exiting (sp) things in my life. - Zoey”

Zoey, that’s exactly what our club hopes to do — share the exciting joy of angling with our community. We’re thrilled you had such a memorable experience, and we hope your time with us sparked an even deeper appreciation for the sport and the great outdoors.

On behalf of Malden Anglers—its members and Board—I want to wish everyone a Happy Father’s Day! Today isn’t just about fathers, but everyone whose lives have been shaped by them. It’s a great day to recognize fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers, and to say thank you for their many gifts and lasting blessings.

A beautiful day for the 2026 Malden Anglers Kids Day!

While the recent heat made the trout a bit sluggish and hard to find, there were plenty of roaming largemouth bass. Kids Day marks the end of the catch-and-release trout season, so artificial lures, worms, and take-home buckets are allowed.

Plenty of fish were caught, snacks were enjoyed, and most importantly—lots of smiles from the kids (and the young at heart). The day included a hot dog lunch and even a fun prize giveaway at the end of the event.

A big thank you to Larry Snook, Kalil Bogdhan, Bud Koor, and John Berg for their time, treasure, and effort. Special thanks as well to Pete Santini and his team at Fishing Finatics for their support in helping make the day such a success.
