Yesterday at 5:00 PM, Jonnine hung up her headset for the very last time, closing the chapter on an incredible career spanning nearly 35 years as a dispatcher.

Throughout those years, she answered thousands of calls for help, serving our community with professionalism, compassion, and unwavering dedication. Behind every voice on the radio was someone people could count on during their worst moments.

Jonnine’s impact extends far beyond the calls she answered. She mentored and molded hundreds of dispatchers, sharing her knowledge, leadership, and passion for the profession. Her legacy will continue through every dispatcher she trained and every life they will go on to touch.

Thank you, Jonnine, from Harrison County Fire Rescue.

Your voice may be signing off, but the difference you’ve made will never be forgotten.

Congratulations on your well-deserved retirement!

Congratulations to FF Donald D’Antonio for receiving the Rotary Club of Gulfport’s Safety Award for the following reason.

In early 2025, Harrison County Fire Rescue started preparations for the required transition from the National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS) to the NERIS program. This involved a year-long preparation to adopt a modern system that encompasses all hazard types commonly managed by all local fire agencies. NERIS enhances community risk reduction, incident prevention, and departmental accountability.

Firefighter D’Antonio served as the liaison between Harrison County Fire Rescue, the State Fire Marshal, Imagtrend (RMS), and Caliber (CAD system). Firefighter D’Antonio undertook additional training and participated in numerous meetings, on and off duty, to facilitate this transition. His efforts ensured the accuracy of information and provided valuable feedback from fellow firefighters during the adjustment period. The daily concerns and questions that arise have been directed to him and his level of expertise in this matter has proven invaluable to the Administration, Logistics, Training and Operations personnel.

NERIS is crucial for securing grants and additional resources, thereby increasing funding opportunities for the department. FF. D’Antonio currently maintain the program at the department level, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
