I truly hope you never need to file a claim. But just in case: before a severe weather event, take photos or video of your property (inside, outside, and valuables). They’ll be timestamped proof of damage and could help move your claim along faster.

I recommend planning for a severe weather event by prepping an emergency kit and knowing your evacuation route or where you’ll safely shelter in place.

If first responders tell you to evacuate and you encounter high water, turn around and take another route. Just 12 inches of moving water can sweep most cars off the road, and deep water can hide debris that can damage your car. Take time to prepare multiple evacuation routes in case you encounter this scenario.
