Florida Piercing Class

I have been getting a lot of messages this weekend asking if I know anything about the reopening of tattoo and body piercing shops in Florida. Officially the Florida department of Health never had any jurisdiction or direction from the governor to close or reopen tattoo and body piercing shops. Since the FDOH never had jurisdiction to close tattoo shops in the first place, please don't wait for instruction from them about when you can open. The governor is allowing personal services to be open on Monday. Tattoo shops were most likely not mentioned in the exact wording because of 2 reasons. 1) the personal services mentioned are regulated by the Florida department of business and professional regulation (dpbr). DBPR Specifically told the establishments that they have jurisdiction over to close, DOH never did that. Therefore if something was never closed in the first place than it will not get directions from DOH on when to reopen.

2) the governors office is just assuming that any personal service will be classified by this order.

I would recommend to everyone that you take whatever steps necessary to maintain your livelihood and feed your family. Unless you hear otherwise from an actual government agency, assume that you are personal services and can reopen on Monday.

Of course if you local county has other restrictions in place, then I would refer to the local county commissors office for further directions.
