Today’s Supreme Court ruling allows states to enforce bans that exclude transgender girls and women from girls’ and women’s school sports.

For many transgender young people, families, athletes, and allies, including here in Florida, this decision is painful and deeply personal.

At Project Pride SRQ, our message is simple: transgender youth belong. Transgender people deserve dignity, safety, opportunity, and the ability to participate in community life without being reduced to a political debate.

No court decision changes the worth of a young person. No ruling changes the fact that our transgender neighbors are valued members of our community.

We will continue showing up for transgender people, LGBTQ+ youth, families, and allies across Sarasota-Manatee and beyond — with visibility, connection, care, and belonging. 🏳️‍⚧️

Today we celebrate 11 years of marriage equality — a milestone made possible by generations of LGBTQ+ people, advocates, couples, and allies who refused to stop fighting for love, dignity, and recognition. 🏳️‍🌈💍

On June 26, 2015, Obergefell v. Hodges affirmed that love is love — and that every couple deserves the right to marry the person they love.

As we celebrate this progress, we also recognize that equality must be protected, defended, and expanded. Pride is both a celebration of how far we’ve come and a reminder of the work still ahead.

Here’s to love, visibility, commitment, and the continued fight for a future where every LGBTQ+ person is safe, respected, and celebrated.
