Leviticus at times sounds like a public health primer. But God’s concern is deeper than physical disease. It is about restoration to covenant fellowship. This week's reading in the three-year Torah cycle, Leviticus 13, gives priests the responsibility to discern impurity and protect the community, emphasizing holiness and careful examination. Naaman’s healing in 2Kings 5 shows that humble faith and obedience open the door to God’s mercy, even for a Gentile.
