June is Pride month and we are celebrating the vibrant beauty of loving who you love and being exactly who you are. Pride is a time for joy, visibility, and community but it is also a time to honor history and stand in solidarity.
While Pride began with the historic Stonewall Uprising in 1969, the fight for equality is far from over. In many places, the legal and social challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community remain deeply entrenched. True community health can only exist when everyone is safe, respected, and free to live authentically.
For us at Ceres, Pride is also a moment of deep gratitude. We are profoundly inspired by the compassionate roots of the Food as Medicine movement, which was built by LGBTQ+ communities and their allies rallying to cook for and nourish neighbors during the HIV/AIDS crisis of the 1980s.
We are deeply inspired by the brave legacy of organizations like Project Open Hand, Food For Thought, Mama's Kitchen, and Project Angel Food. They proved that food is love, and they paved the way for the work we all do today.
This month, let’s celebrate that legacy of radical love, honor the ongoing fight for equality, and continue taking care of one another. 💚❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

¡Acompáñanos este viernes 12 de junio de 3:00 pm a 6:00 pm en nuestro segundo taller práctico de permacultura! Nos vamos a reunir en nuestras nuevas instalaciones en el suroeste de Santa Rosa para aprender todo sobre el concepto de los bosques comestibles de la mano del maestro experto en permacultura, Mario Tapia.
En esta sesión, vas a aprender cómo hasta los espacios pequeños pueden tener diferentes capas de plantas, incorporando de todo: desde árboles frutales y hierbas frescas hasta flores hermosas.
¿La mejor parte? ¡Que vamos a aprender haciendo! Juntos plantaremos un bosque comestible y dejaremos instalado su sistema de riego. Así te llevarás a casa las habilidades prácticas para crear tu propio espacio comestible en tu jardín, mientras nos ayudas a construir un espacio comunitario hermoso en nuestro nuevo sitio. 🌍✨
