Motion Sports Chiropractic
If you’re a runner and have already come in to see me, you know I have already worked on this muscle, and it’s one of those that “hurts so good” but feels so much better after. 😉
It’s your posterior tibialis, and it’s the muscle behind your shin bone. The video I am working on my left one. This muscle turns the sole of your foot inwards and points your foot. So when you run (or walk) this muscle works when your foot is at the back and your toes push off to properly you forward (aka toe off). Which is why it works so much when you run.
And this is why I try to address it if you are a runner.
Does your posterior tib need some TLC? Because mine does😂
The last couple of weeks I have helped a few patients with their deadlifts. They don’t typically go too heavy, and we’re getting some low back pain when we started loading up the bar.
And what I noticed with each of them is that they were afraid they were going to hit their knees on the way down (going up was completely fine), so they would subconsciously push the bar away AND fight gravity trying to control it.
As we made the correction to get the bar as close as possible on the way down and to guide the bar rather than hold it they didn’t have that tweak/pain.
Here is a video of me doing a sumo DL so you get a side view of the bar path. My form isn’t perfect, but you get the idea.
Yes, we can do more than just adjustments during your visit. I’ve been a personal trainer for 10+ years, a collegiate athlete (Division 1, sprint swimmer), and lifting heavy for 20 years (yes 20, at the time when female ATHLETES still thought lifting heavy would make them bulky 🙄😂)
