If you’re planning to cruise around Miramar Beach, Destin, or 30A in a golf cart, it’s important to know where you CAN and CANNOT drive. This outlines the restrictions in these areas. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, staying within the guidelines keeps our roads safe and helps you avoid fines.

According to Florida Statute 316.2122, low-speed vehicles (including street-legal golf carts that go 20–25 mph) can only operate on roads with a posted speed limit of 35 mph or lower. They can cross intersections where the crossing road has a higher speed limit. A “low-speed vehicle” refers to any four-wheeled vehicle with a top speed between 20–25 mph, including neighborhood electric vehicles.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ARE LOW-SPEED VEHICLES OR STREET-LEGAL GOLF CARTS ALLOWED TO DRIVE ON HIGHWAY 98 OR ON SIDEWALKS.

You can travel the full stretch of 30A in a street-legal golf cart, but some areas restrict where you can park. Stick to designated parking areas that allow golf carts—most of 30A is accommodating.

Alys Beach and Rosemary Beach have the strictest regulations. You can drive through these communities without issue, but parking, stopping, or driving within their neighborhoods is not allowed. They are considered “drive-through only” areas for golf carts.

MIRAMAR BEACH & DESTIN

Certain communities have additional restrictions, including Mainsail, Destiny By The Sea, Villages of Crystal Beach, Emerald Dunes, Grand Caribbean, Sandestin Resort, and others. This is not a full list, so it’s always best to confirm with your community’s property manager before renting a golf cart.

For example, you can drive your golf cart in Baytowne, but they do have specific rules to follow.
