Deep Charters

Got our group from Alabama limited out on Red Snapper which gave us some time to work on the scamp grouper, Mahi, and safely release a gag grouper with the Return em Right descending device.

It takes a team! A day that almost didn’t happen turned into one we’ll be talking about for a while.

We left the dock at first light and about 5 miles offshore had a throttle control issue on one of the Mercurys. Big thanks to the team at Ship’s Chandler for immediately getting us back up and running quickly so we could salvage the day.

After a quick repair, we headed back offshore with Ronald, his family, and friends visiting from out of town. The afternoon bite made up for the delayed start.

The crew put together a great box of fish including red snapper, vermilion snapper, and a several beautiful mahi mahi. We also released a healthy gag grouper to fight another day and loaded up on a few bonita for this week’s shark fishing trips.

Just goes to show that sometimes the days that start with the biggest challenges end up producing the best memories.

Managed to sneak a trip in this week and catch smooth seas between weather systems with a great group of golfing buddies from UAB.

The conditions weren’t exactly what you’d draw up, but that’s fishing. We put a nice wahoo in the boat, had a yellowfin tuna come tight only to part ways before we could get a look at him, and watched a mahi-mahi pull off one of those last-second disappearing acts that will stick with us for a while.

Some days the fish box tells the whole story. Other days it’s the ones that got away. This trip was a little of both.  We will always be happy with wahoo in the box. 

Appreciate these guys making the trip down and rolling with whatever the Gulf decided to give us. We have vowed for redemption on that big bull.  Looking forward to getting back after them when the weather settles in for our summer pattern next week.

🎣⚡️ Afternoon Redemption Trip ⚡️🎣

After the thunderstorms finally cleared out this afternoon, we made the call to head offshore — and the Gulf showed out for us. 🌊☀️

The crew made a full box of big girl snapper including an absolute STUD 34” red snapper along with some quality vermilion snapper for the cooler! We also got tight on a healthy gag grouper that was safely released to fight another day. 👊🐟

Sometimes the best trips happen after the weather breaks and the fish turn on. Summer fishing out of Santa Rosa Beach and the 30A area is heating up fast, and the offshore bite continues to produce.
