I am tremendously grateful for every single person who supported me in this journey as I put my name in the running for NM Senate District 24 these past 3 months 🙏🏽 While I lost this one, I am incredibly proud of the campaign my team and I ran! We ran hard 🙌🏽

I answered a needed phone call this past Sunday, from Secretary Deb Haaland, who somehow knew exactly what I needed to hear, “Don’t be scared. Don’t be scared to be who you are and to voice your vision for our future”. I feel that is exactly what I did.

I am a strong believer in everything happens for a reason, and that I’ve overcome all I have at the guidance of my ancestors - following this calling has taken me places I never even dreamed of…including this race. I entered this race knowing there was a strong chance of last night’s outcome, and I did it anyways because I also knew this was bigger than myself.

I ran as a young Native woman & as a foster care alumni - a candidate this district has never seen before. I remained myself, I stayed true to my word and platform, I strengthened my connection to my home community…and I gave people, near and afar, a sense of hope. These are all things I will carry in my heart forward with me ❤️

Last night, as I was thanking my team, I was moved to tears by all the incredible people who stepped up to support me…many who were strangers 3 months ago and now have become family 🥹🙌🏽 Thank YOU!

I will process, rest, reflect, and keep moving forward! I have big changes I want to see in this world, and I will keep fighting! Here are a few of my favorite moments…Thank you for joining me in this chapter 🙏🏽

Santa Fe, It’s crunch time! I would truly love your help in actively getting my name out there & connecting with voters in District 24! Heading into our final month, there are now two ways I can use volunteer power:
- Door to door canvassing
- Phone and text banking

If the dates we have listed do not work for you but you want to help, let us know! We’d be happy to figure out a way to include in the campaign and even cut a walk list personally just for you to walk at your convenience!

This is a “make or break” primary, meaning whoever wins on June 4th, runs essentially unopposed in November! Now is the time for all hands on deck, we need YOU!

Veronica is the YOUNGEST State Senate Candidate in the State of New Mexico. She holds essential background in addressing child welfare, poverty, and racial equity. This includes her own experience as a system-impacted individual with foster care experience.

In the last few days, I had the wonderful opportunity to serve as mentor to some inspiring & impactful young people this week. These young voices are in the current cohort of the Building Indigenous Communities of Hope (BCOH) Fellowship with the Center for Native American Youth! 🙌🏽

Being a member of the first BCOH cohort, it was exciting to return and be able to hear from young people what their vision for our future is. It reaffirmed exactly why I’m running…to break through the barriers and leave the ladder down for those to come behind me. We cannot be what we cannot see!

True transformation happens in community, I feel honored to now be a part of these young people’s lives! 🙏🏽 Thank you!
