Join us Saturday, June 20 from 1:30–3:00 PM at the New Mexico History Museum for a compelling conversation with historian Garrett Peck as part of The Shoulders We Stand On project.

The 1980s were a decade of both upheaval and transformation for the q***r community—marked by activism, visibility, and profound loss. From backlash against LGBTQ+ rights to the rise of Pride events nationwide, the era also saw the devastating impact of the HIV/AIDS epidemic alongside growing political organizing and cultural visibility.

We’ll explore:

✨ The rise of National Coming Out Day and Pride celebrations
✨ The cultural influence of the “Second British Invasion” (Boy George, Culture Club & more)
✨ LGBTQ+ political progress in New Mexico and the early roots of Santa Fe Pride
