We officially welcomed our 2026 production staff and 84 outstanding Apprentice Technicians with our annual Step Chat. From costumes and props to lighting, sound, scenery and beyond, these talented apprentices are going to be working hard behind the scenes this summer.

Meet the creators of LILI ELBE 🎨
This summer, the Santa Fe Opera presents the American premiere of LILI ELBE, an opera that tells the true story of Danish artist Lili Elbe, one of the first known recipients of gender-affirming surgery. Through music and storytelling, the work explores identity, love and the courage to live authentically.
