NMSP takes first place in Grants Battle of the Badges Bull Riding Event

Congratulations to New Mexico State Police Sergeant Edward Archie for taking first place in the Annual Grants Wild West Rodeo Battle of the Badges bull riding competition over the Fourth of July weekend in Grants, NM!

Competing against officers from the Milan Police Department, Grants Police Department, Cibola County Sheriff's Office, and the New Mexico Corrections Department, Sgt. Archie rode his bull for the full 8 seconds to claim the championship buckle and traveling trophy.

What's even more impressive? This was Sgt. Archie's first time ever riding a bull.

With guidance from retired New Mexico State Police officer Peterson Long, Sgt. Archie put in the hard work, faced the challenge head-on, and proved that determination and grit go a long way.

Congratulations, Sgt. Archie, on an outstanding accomplishment and for representing the New Mexico State Police with pride. Whether on duty or in the rodeo arena, you showed the toughness, courage, and dedication that define our officers.

Our Dive Team has been out on patrol at Elephant Butte Lake this holiday weekend, helping keep our waterways safe while connecting with the community.

One of the best parts of the day? Welcoming kids aboard the boat to check out our dive gear, meet a few members of our team, and learn a few important boating safety tips!
